Garmin New nuvi 1200 and 1300 Series

The nuvi 1200 (3.5″ touchscreen) and 1300 series (4.3″ touchscreen) feature a new, thinner design (approximately 25% thinner than previous nuvis), and offer advanced features like text-to-speech, free lifetime traffic and lane assist at an affordable price. All the 1200 and 1300 models also feature a new “Enhanced Pedestrian Mode”, and something called “Public Transit Mode”.

The new nuvi 1200 and 1300 series are the first nuvi devices to offer enhanced pedestrian navigation capabilities. Enabled through Garmin’s new CityXplorer, an optional download that provides location and destination information for select tourist destinations in North America and Europe, CityXplorer varies in cost ($9.99 - $14.99 depending on the city) and provides bus, train and/or metro train routing options and times, as well as distances associated with them.

Mio Launch 4 New Moov S series

CES International 2009 has over, many companies use that event to launch their new gadget for 2009. Mio has launch 4 new mildly interesting navigators Moov S Series there. Here are the details of the new models which available in the first half of 2009.

  1. Mio Moov S300 that features 3.5″ display with preloaded maps of the U.S. and Canada, text-to-speech and over 12 million POIs.
  2. Mio Moov S500 with same features of the S300 but with extra wide 4.7″ display.
  3. Mio Moov S556 with same features of the S500 including Bluetooth and Junction View.
  4. Mio Moov S700 that features RV-friendly 7″ display, MAD Maps content, A/V input, preloaded maps of the U.S. and Canada, text-to-speech and over 12 million POIs.

All of them comes preloaded with Mio “Spirit” navigation software. Priced at $199.99, $249.99, $299.99 and $299.99.

Nextar Unveils M3 Navigator at South America

Today, Nextar announces their new three dedicated GPS navigational units for Argentina (M3-AR), Brazil (M3-BR), and Mexico (updated to the M3-MX1) will be added to its lineup in early 2009.

Featuring 4.05″ x 2.99″ x 0.9″ dimensions at only 2.2 pounds, 3.5″ touchscreen display, multimedia player (but only MP3 & JPEG), built-in antenna, thousands of POIs, text-to-speech technology with user-selectable languages of Spanish, English, Portuguese or French in a built-in stereo speaker.

All GPS units come with a complete accessory pack that includes AC/DC adapter, rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery, car power adapter, USB cable, protection pouch, suction cup, instruction manual, and a stylus/touch pen.

Medion GoPal P5430 Launched

This European PND sports a 5-inch touchscreen display with 65,536 colours, integrated TMC antenna, fingerprint sensor, text-to-speech functionality and pre-installed NAVTEQ maps of Western and Eastern Europe. The device also has an integrated FM transmitter, Bluetooth hook-up for your phone, MP3 player, photo viewer, travel guide and a Sudoku game (great time waster). Priced at £175 ($269).

Goodyear Launch 5 GPS units For Christmas

The folks over at The NCC just hit us with details and pictures of their five new Goodyear-branded GPS models, three of which are due out in time for Christmas. Starting at $179.99 for the entry level, 3.5-inch GY130, and working their way skywards to $499.99 for the GY440 4.3-inch widescreen with Bluetooth and 12 months free MSN Direct.

All models feature touchscreens, Instant Rerouting (the device calculates all alternate routes in a one-mile radius of the vehicle, so recalculation isn’t needed if you get off course), a SiRF GPS receiver, turn-by-turn spoken directions and 3D view. There is plenty more to these units.

TomTom GO 630 Has Just Launched

RadioShack has landed yet another exclusive deal for the holidays, this time it’s the TomTom GO 630. The 4.3″ navigator sports many of the same features found on the popular TomTom GO 730 — IQ Routes™, Advanced Lane Guidance, Voice Address input, TomTom MapShare™, text-to-speech and Bluetooth for handsfree calling.

What appears to be missing is an FM transmitter and MP3 player. And the Radio Shack specs page cites just 3 million POIs. Anyway, the TomTom GO 630 lists for $399.99 and is available immediately.

Alpine IVA-W203/P1

Alpine has just launches their new in-dash unit that combines navigation, audio, and video called Alpine IVA-W203/P1. Requires a 2-DIN slot on your dash but offers so much space saving features that it may be worth the $1200 price tag.

Alpine IVA-W203/P1 is use a removable GPS navigation system called NVE-P1 so if you ever need it in another vehicle you’ll just have the option to do so. Other features include bluetooth pairing with your cell phone, real iPod support (requires an extra cable), satellite radio support, and also support for various multimedia files.

As far as the navigation system, the device offers preloaded NAVTEQ map data of the United States and Canada, including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, text-to-speech (TTS) technology, which announces actual street names in English, Spanish or French, all on a 6.5″ touch screen.

BlueTraks BT-211N GPS Navigation

BT-211N comes with maps of USA, Canada, and Puerto Rico, with over 12,000 POI’s. It even has text-to-speech feature. It will mute the radio when it is announcing directions. All audibles are from the gps navigation system output through the Hands-free speaker.

Cost at $900, you get a serious bluetooth device with OEM connection cable, iPod connection cable, mic, and mounting stuff. In addition of course you have the GPS navigation system which requires a separate module that can be installed anywhere in your vehicle. The nice thing about this is that it uses an external GPS antenna which can go on top of your vehicle for better signal reception. Please notes, no SD slot in the front.
